NON-PICTURE PAST JOBS
ST PAULS SCHOOL, CONCORD NH
Up at Astronomy, which consists of several buildings and 4
Observatories, 12 strand, multimode fiber was installed to each Observatory and the
Warming Hut. Underground conduit and handholes were installed (by
NCN) for the
containment of the cable. All fiber is using 3M termination connectors.
MACOM INC, LOWELL MA
All second floor CAT3 data locations were replaced by Cat5
AMP Plenum rated cable. New data racks and patch panels were installed in the
central DATA ROOM. Besides the replacement of older cable this project is designed
to element unneeded data closets located throughout the second floor. The project
consists of approx. 300 locations.
Brooks School Physical Plant
Reconfiguration
This project consisted of replacing 4
aerial spans of campus cable infrastructure that fed 8 buildings with new underground service. In anticipation of the aerial spans to be
removed, new cable was placed through some existing manholes and a newly placed manhole system to feed the buildings with underground-only,
service. The project involved the re-routing of a 600, 100, and 50
pair copper cable and fiber cables with strand counts of 96 and two, 12 strand
fiber cables. There were 4 copper splices and 1 fiber splice that
were involved for the final cutover that November. A future phase
(scheduled for the summer of 2000) of the project
includes the re-configuration of an additional section of 8 aerial spans
to be removed.
Mass Audubon, Lincoln MA
This
2 stage project consisted of the placement of a fiber optic backbone
connecting several of Drumlin Farm's buildings to the M.D.F. located in
the basement of Gordon Hall, and upgrading the existing inside plant
cabling. Prior to beginning the actual installation of fiber, we had to
install pull-string throughout the underground condiut system. During this
process we discovered a broken condiut & made the necessary repair. Three
crushed hand-holes were removed and replaced (including one in a cow
pasture). A 24 strand multimode cable was installed from Gordon Hall to
(of all buildings) the chicken coop. Three 6 strand cables were then
pulled from the chicken coop to the Gift Shop, the Education Center, and
to the Farm Life Center, and then fusion spliced to 18 of the 24 strand
cable in the chicken coop. The remaining 6 strands were terminated and
left at the chicken coop in anticipation of an expansion of the network to
include Drumlin Farm's 2 Barns. An additional 6 strand cable was also
installed from Gordon Hall to the nature center and then 2 strands
extended from there to the maintenance building. All fusion splices and
terminations are housed in Corning wall mounted fiber enclosures. All
buildings (except the chicken coop) were then outfitted with new cat5e
voice/data cables and Ortronics cat5e jacks, patch panels, wire
management, and wall mounted, hinged brackets. All 6 new M.D.F.s were
built on flameproof backboards custom built for each application.
MASS AUDUBON, STONY BROOK
Mass Audubon's Stony Brook location
is preparing for a telephone system upgrade. In addition to the phone
upgrade, the facility had never had a computer network in place. The
entire project consisted of the addition of 13 single voice/single data
locations throughout the office and classroom areas of the facility as
well as a dual voice/single data location in the customer
service/reception area.
MASS AUDUBON, MOOSE HILL
Mass Audubon's Moose Hill
location is preparing for a telephone system upgrade. In addition to the
phone upgrade, the facility had never had a computer network in place. The
entire project will consist of the addition of 17 single voice/single data
locations throughout the office and classroom areas of the facility as
well as two dual voice/single data locations in the customer
service/reception area. A single voice/single data location will also be
added to the facility's maintenance building, which is separate from the
main building. Due to the elevation of the facility, it is very
susceptible to lightning strikes. Two outside plant cat5 cables will be
installed with grounded lightning protection on both ends of each cable to
connect the two buildings.
